Neon Genesis Evangelion Unit 01 Figures: Ultra Detail vs Awakening

Quick answer

Choose the Ultra Detail Figure Unit 01 if you want the classic Evangelion Unit 01 design at a lower price point. Choose the Awakening Ver. Figure Unit 01 if you prefer a dynamic pose inspired by the dramatic awakening scene and are willing to pay more for that display presence.

Sculpt and pose: classic stance vs dramatic awakening

The Ultra Detail Figure Unit 01 focuses on the iconic Unit 01 design, with a detailed sculpt that brings the legendary mecha to life. Its appeal is in the recognizable silhouette and intricate detailing rather than a scene-specific pose. The Awakening Ver. Figure Unit 01, by contrast, captures Unit 01 in a dynamic pose inspired by the series' dramatic awakening scene, with detailed sculpt and paintwork that aim to recreate that moment. If you want a figure that reads as a scene, the Awakening Ver. is the more expressive choice; if you want a clean, classic representation, the Ultra Detail Figure is the safer pick.

Price and value: what the extra spend buys

At catalog prices, the Ultra Detail Figure Unit 01 is listed at USD 23.10 (compared with a catalog comparison price of USD 35.00), while the Awakening Ver. Figure Unit 01 is listed at USD 35.04 (compared with USD 48.00). The Awakening Ver. costs more, and that premium goes toward the scene-specific pose and paintwork rather than a larger scale or extra accessories, which are not supplied in the catalog facts. If budget is the deciding factor, the Ultra Detail Figure leaves more room for other collectibles; if the awakening scene is a personal favorite, the Awakening Ver. justifies its higher price through that specific presentation.

Display context: shelf, desk, or cabinet

Both figures are described as display pieces suited to shelves, desks, or collection cabinets. The Awakening Ver. is explicitly designed as a display piece for those spaces, and its dynamic pose can make it a focal point. The Ultra Detail Figure is part of the EGG-CELLENT anime figure collection and is also intended for display. Neither listing specifies a scale or included stand, so check the product page for dimensions if shelf height is tight. In a shared display, the two can work together as a classic-and-scene pair, but the pose difference may make the Awakening Ver. draw more attention.

Key trade-offs

• Pose vs classic silhouette: The Awakening Ver. offers a dynamic awakening-scene pose, while the Ultra Detail Figure sticks to the classic Unit 01 design. Pick the pose if you want a scene on your shelf; pick the classic if you prefer a neutral, recognizable stance.
• Price vs scene-specific detail: The Ultra Detail Figure is the lower-cost option at USD 23.10, and the Awakening Ver. is USD 35.04. The extra spend on the Awakening Ver. buys the scene-specific sculpt and paintwork, not a larger size or accessories, which are not listed. Set a budget before choosing; the difference is roughly the cost of a second budget figure.
• Display flexibility: Both are intended for shelves, desks, or cabinets, but the Awakening Ver.'s dynamic pose may need more clearance. Measure your display space and check the product page for dimensions, since scale is not supplied in the catalog facts.
